These Terms of Use govern your access to and use of Transparency Registry (“TR,” “we,” “us”). By creating an account or submitting any content to this platform, you agree to be bound by these terms. If you do not agree, do not use this platform.
Plain language is intentional here. These terms are meant to be understood — not survived.
1. What Transparency Registry Is
Transparency Registry is a public accountability platform where AI owners, developers, and independent creators can voluntarily register AI models with detailed disclosures about training data, capabilities, limitations, safety features, and governance. It is not a regulatory body. It does not certify AI as safe, ethical, or legal. It is a record — like an ingredient label. What’s in it is what was submitted.
2. Who Can Use This Platform
Anyone may view the public registry without an account. To register an AI model, submit amendments, report issues, or contribute to the platform in any capacity, you must create an account and agree to these terms.
Account types include:
- Public User — browses the registry, submits user comments and complaints
- AI Owner / Company — registers AI models and is accountable for all submitted information
- Contributor — assists in building, maintaining, or evaluating registry content in an approved capacity
3. Registering an AI Model
Registration is a one-time snapshot. When you submit a model registration, you are declaring: this is what I released, at this moment, with these properties. That record is locked.
If your model changes — its training data, its guardrails, its name, its ownership — that is a new edition/version and requires a new registration with a new ID. The original registration does not disappear. It remains as a timestamped record.
Amendments are permitted for good-faith corrections of omissions or errors discovered after submission. Each amendment carries a $5.00 processing fee and is timestamped publicly. The original submission remains visible alongside the amendment. Excessive amendments damage your trust score.
Registration fees are based on active user counts at the time of registration and are reviewed quarterly. Fees do not decrease if users are lost — your fee is set at your peak registered user count.
4. The Declaration — You Are Accountable
Before any model is registered, the submitting party must sign a sworn declaration under penalty of perjury affirming that:
- They own, created, or are the authorized representative of the AI model being registered — or — you may register a model without certification as a User just to document what the model seems to be or says it is trained on.
- All information submitted is accurate and complete to the best of their knowledge
- They accept full legal and financial responsibility for any false, misleading, or fraudulent submissions (if you claim ownership)
- Transparency Registry bears no liability for the content of any registration
This declaration must be acknowledged twice before submission is accepted. There is no skip. There is no bypass.
You submit it. You own it.
5. Verification
Transparency Registry uses a tiered verification system. Basic registration requires only the sworn declaration. Higher verification tiers — including company email confirmation, registered mail documentation, live video verification, ID verification, and LDAP or OAuth integration — are available and increase your verified status on the platform. In-person meetings may be scheduled.
Unverified owners are clearly labeled as such in all public-facing records. Users see your verification level. The lower it is, the more skeptical they should be — and we tell them that.
If you claim to represent a company or person you do not represent, that is fraud. We log it. We flag it. Users see it. The legal consequences are yours.
6. Trust Scores and Public Flags
Every registered model carries a public trust record that includes:
- Number and frequency of amendments
- User complaints (Flies) and unresolved disputes
- Verification level of the registrant
- Whether any discrepancies between declared and observed behavior have been reported and confirmed
Trust scores are not a popularity contest. They are a credibility record. Low scores are visible. High scores are earned.
7. The Frog Rating System
All registered models carry a public-facing content rating using TR’s Frog Rating System:
- Green Frog (E) — Everyone. Suitable for all users including children.
- Yellow Frog (PG) — Parental Guidance suggested.
- Red Frog (A) — Adult content or themes. Age-appropriate access controls expected.
- B&W Frog with Fly (D) — Disputed. Behavior, content, or declarations are under active dispute.
- Tadpole (U) — User Comment. Community-sourced note; not yet verified.
- Fly (F) — User Complaint. Formal complaint logged and timestamped.
Verification badges include the Lily Pad (verified owner or company) and the Lotus Flower (award for cooperative excellence). These are earned, not purchased.
8. Prohibited Conduct
You may not use Transparency Registry to:
- Submit false, fraudulent, or deliberately misleading model registrations
- Impersonate any individual, company, or entity
- Submit registrations on behalf of a company you do not represent. You may register as a user and enter the claims of a model’s logistics — those registrations will not be issued a serial number. Only verified owners receive a serial number and rating. Local AIs can be registered and serial numbered if they are yours.
- Manipulate trust scores, ratings, or complaint systems through coordinated abuse
- Use the platform to harm, defame, or misrepresent any individual or organization
- Attempt to access, alter, or interfere with another registrant’s records
Violations may result in account termination, public flagging of your registrations, and referral to appropriate legal authorities. Transparency Registry cooperates with law enforcement where required by law.
9. Licensed Professionals
If you are a licensed professional (medical, legal, psychological, or otherwise) and you contribute advice, evaluations, or guidance through this platform in your professional capacity, that contribution is considered part of your licensed practice. TR may display your license information as part of your contributor or owner profile. You are responsible for ensuring your contributions comply with your licensing obligations and applicable professional standards.
10. Privacy and Your Data
Personal information collected during registration (email, address, phone, etc.) is private by default. Only you can choose to make it visible — not your employer, not TR. You control your own visibility settings on all private fields.
Public information includes your account type, verification status, submitted registrations, amendments, and trust record. By registering, you agree that this public information is visible to all users of the platform.
TR does not sell your data. TR does not serve intrusive advertising. This is an accountability platform — not a marketplace. For full details see our Privacy Policy.
11. Beta Access
During the beta period, basic registry access is free for all users. Free access includes text-based registry information. Detailed reports, dataset links, and expanded data may require a small fee due to the cost of bandwidth. Book references, where listed, may link through Unfltrd.ai’s/TR’s affiliated seller account using ISBN identifiers.
12. Payments
Registration fees and amendment fees are processed through a secure payment processing service. All fees are non-refundable once a registration or amendment has been submitted and accepted into the public record.
13. Changes to These Terms
TR may update these terms. When we do, the updated terms will be posted with a new effective date and you will be notified by an alert when you next visit the site. Continued use of the platform after that date constitutes acceptance. If you disagree with a change, you may close your account — any registered models stay listed and linked to you, but you will not have access to your backend dashboard.
14. Disclaimer of Warranties
Transparency Registry provides a public record of what registrants have submitted. We do not verify the accuracy of third-party registrations beyond the verification tiers described above. We make no warranty that any registered AI model behaves as described by its owner. The information in this registry is provided as-is, for informational purposes only.
15. Limitation of Liability
Transparency Registry, its founders, staff, and contributors are not liable for any damages arising from your use of this platform, from inaccurate registrations submitted by third parties, or from decisions made based on information found in this registry. You use this information at your own discretion.
16. Governing Law
These terms are governed by the laws of the jurisdiction in which Transparency Registry is incorporated. Disputes shall be resolved in that jurisdiction unless applicable law requires otherwise.
